Authentic Greek Salad Recipe

Ingredients:
4 large tomatoes
, cut into wedges
1 cucumber
, sliced into half moons
1 green bell pepper
, thinly sliced
1 red onion
, thinly sliced
20 kalamata olives
200g (7 oz) feta cheese
, cut into thick slabs or large cubes
1 tsp dried oregano
Salt to taste
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar (optional)
A few sprigs of fresh oregano or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the vegetables
: Cut the tomatoes into wedges, slice the cucumber into half moons, thinly slice the green bell pepper and red onion.
Assemble the salad
: In a large bowl, combine the tomatoes, cucumber, green bell pepper, red onion, and olives.
Add the feta
: Place the slabs or cubes of feta cheese on top of the vegetables.
Season
: Sprinkle the salad with dried oregano, salt, and pepper to taste.
Dress
: Drizzle generously with extra virgin olive oil. If using, add a splash of red wine vinegar for extra tang.
Garnish
: Garnish with fresh oregano or parsley if desired.
Serve
: Toss gently just before serving to combine the flavors. Serve with crusty bread to soak up the juices.
